Michael Beckley is a PhD student at Columbia University and a predoctoral fellow at Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. His dissertation research focuses on the durability and dynamics of unipolarity, the elements of national power, and U.S. and Chinese foreign policy. Michael’s research has received several awards, including the International Studies Association’s Carl Beck Award and the Journal of Strategic Studies’ Amos Perlmutter Prize. Michael has held positions at the RAND Corporation, the Pentagon’s Policy Planning Office, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Carter Center.
